What's keeping me up at night - Branding

What I didn’t mention as I was laying in bed writing the original post, is that I geek out about this topic. For most entrepreneurs, it’s not something you’ll need to spend too much time on, especially if it takes away from building your product and company. I could sit and mess around with branding ideas as I sit and watch sports on tv—to me it’s fun.

James Currier shared some very valuable insight into things he has learned over the years as he has worked with startups, and the video is still definitely worth a watch (or listen) as you wash dishes one night.

The whole branding thing for Pivvt is still a work in progress as it takes time, but it will come together. As we continue to move things forward, I think we will get a clearer view of who we are and what we need to become.

Original post:

I was laying in bed and my mind was racing; this is typical behavior for me. This time around I couldn't get the idea of brand language, phrases, colors, and imaging out of my head. With our most recent pivot, what I had used prior didn't quite fit anymore.

I did more reading into brand voice and brand archetypes, but I came across [this] video. I've listened to James Currier speak a bunch of times, but despite being four years old, this speech really hit the spot. For the first time, I heard someone speak at depth about the power of language and name in the context of startups.

Next is figuring out a new brand voice for Pivvt...

Vulnerable Founder was the name of a blog (and podcast) that I put together while working on our first idea for digital content creators, from December 2020 through March 2021. We decided to shut down our old app, so I’m bringing highlighted posts from that blog here to our new one on Substack with short updates on the same topic.
